Divine Mercy Sunday On May 5, 2000, five days after the canonization of St. Faustina, Pope Saint John Paul II decreed that the Second Sunday of Easter would be known as Divine Mercy Sunday. Jesus appeared to St. Faustina in many mystical visions throughout her life and requested that the Feast of Mercy (Divine Mercy Sunday) be observed.
