Bible Basics

This year as we continue our study of the Bible and learn more about the New Testament, let's take a minute to review how we find Bible passages.  We look them up by the name of the book of the Bible (check in the table of contents to find where each book begins).  The first number is the chapter. The number after the colon is the verse or verses. Practice looking up verses.  One person open the Bible and write down a verse you like.  Give your verse to the person to your right and see if they can find the verse.  See how many you can get correct. Happy learning!

Bible Story

Jesus was a child just like all of us.  He had a family and went to school.  Read more about his life in Luke 2:41-54,  Jesus obeys his parents.
Watch this video to find out more about Jesus as a child. Think about what is the same and different about Jesus' life as a child and your life.

This year as we explore the New Testament, we will learn more about Jesus. "Jesus My Friend" is an activity that we will do each month. This month to get started, color and cut out the Jesus outline found on the September with Children Page.

During the days of Advent the days get shorter and we stay home more, especially this year.  Advent is a time of waiting and preparing.  How can you prepare your heart and home for the coming of Jesus on his Birthday?  This month with your “Jesus my Friend” pause each night and tell Jesus the things you are hopeful for. What do you hope the waiting of the Advent season will bring?
Then on Christmas plan a birthday party for Jesus.  We often have a special dessert, put a birthday candle in it and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus.  It is his birth we are celebrating after all.
